Il rosa non esiste. Manda questo a qualcuno che sta per discutere con te. Guarda un arcobaleno, oppure scomponi la luce con un pezzo di vetro. Vedrai rosso, arancione, giallo, verde, blu e viola, in fila ordinata. Nemmeno una parte di quella fila è rosa.

Pink does not exist. Send this to someone who is about to argue with you. Look at a rainbow, or split light with a piece of glass. You will see red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, in a neat line. Not one part of that line is pink.

La luce in sé non produce il rosa. A volte i tuoi occhi catturano luce rossa intensa e luce blu intensa nello stesso momento, con un po' di luce verde mescolata. Il tuo cervello non ha un colore normale pronto per quella miscela. Così, invece di lasciare un vuoto, il tuo cervello inventa semplicemente un colore completamente nuovo.

Light itself does not make pink. Sometimes your eyes catch strong red light and strong blue light at the same time, with little green light mixed in. Your brain does not have a normal color ready for that mix. So instead of leaving a gap, your brain simply makes up a brand new color.

Quel nuovo colore è il rosa. Esiste solo dentro la tua testa, non fuori nel mondo. Fuori, nella luce reale, il rosa non si trova da nessuna parte. Ma quando lo vedi, ti sembra comunque completamente reale, ogni singola volta.

That new color is pink. It only lives inside your head, not out in the world. Outside, in real light, pink is nowhere to be found. But when you see it, it still looks completely real to you, every single time.
