Roze bestaat niet. Stuur dit naar iemand die je meteen gaat tegenspreken. Kijk naar een regenboog, of splits licht met een stuk glas. Je ziet rood, oranje, geel, groen, blauw en paars, in een nette rij. Nergens in die rij zit roze.
Licht zelf maakt geen roze. Soms vangen je ogen tegelijk sterk rood licht en sterk blauw licht, met weinig groen ertussen. Je hersenen hebben geen gewone kleur klaar voor die mix. Dus in plaats van een gat te laten, verzinnen je hersenen gewoon een gloednieuwe kleur.
Die nieuwe kleur is roze. Hij leeft alleen in je hoofd, niet buiten in de wereld. Buiten, in echt licht, is roze nergens te vinden. Maar als je hem ziet, lijkt hij toch elke keer weer volkomen echt.
