欧洲最后的两座茶园

在海边的绿色山坡上,茶树排成整齐的行。波莉落在墙上,看着这些茶树。这是全欧洲仅剩的两个茶园之一。

On a green hill by the sea, rows of tea plants grew in neat lines. Polly landed on a wall and looked at the plants. This is one of only two tea farms left in all of Europe.

茶园开始于一八八三年。以前,岛上种柑橘。一场病害死了橘树。所以农民改种了茶。今天他们还在用一样的旧机器。

The farm started in eighteen eighty-three. Before that, the island grew oranges. A disease killed the orange trees. So the growers planted tea instead. They still use the same old machines today.

在工厂里,旧机器揉茶,也烘干茶叶。工人用手采嫩叶。嫩叶做的茶最好。这里不用有害的化学药品。

Inside the factory, old machines roll and dry the leaves. Workers pick the young leaves by hand. Young leaves make the best tea. No bad chemicals are used here.

波莉在茶树旁边走。茶叶闻起来像新鲜的青草。这一家人在这座山上种茶已经很久了。

Polly walked by the tea plants. They smelled like fresh grass. One line of growers has cared for this hill for a very long time.
