شلال يسقط إلى الأعلى

انظر جيداً إلى هذا الشلال. الماء لا ينزل. إنه يتطاير إلى الأعلى، عائداً إلى السماء، كأن الفيديو يعمل بالمقلوب.

Look closely at this waterfall. The water is not falling down. It is blowing up, back into the sky, like a video playing backward.

يحدث هذا المشهد الغريب في الأيام شديدة الرياح عند الشلالات العالية في النرويج. تدفع الريح القوية الماء النازل بعنف. وأصغر القطرات خفيفة بما يكفي لتحملها الريح. فبدل أن تسقط إلى الأرض، تطير عائدة إلى الهواء.

This strange sight happens on very windy days at tall waterfalls in Norway. Strong wind pushes hard against the falling water. The smallest drops are light enough for the wind to catch. Instead of dropping to the ground, they fly back up into the air.

أما القطرات الكبيرة فهي أثقل من أن يحدث لها ذلك. الرذاذ الصغير الخفيف وحده هو الذي يستدير. قف هنا في يوم عاصف، وقد ترى شلالاً كاملاً وكأنه غيّر رأيه.

Big drops of water are too heavy for this. Only the tiny, light spray turns around. Stand here on a windy day, and you might watch an entire waterfall seem to change its mind.
