거꾸로 떨어지는 폭포

Look closely at this waterfall. The water is not falling down. It is blowing up, back into the sky, like a video playing backward.

이 이상한 장면은 바람이 아주 센 날, 노르웨이의 높은 폭포에서 일어나요. 강한 바람이 떨어지는 물을 세게 밀어 올려요. 가장 작은 물방울은 바람이 붙잡을 만큼 가벼워요. 그래서 땅으로 떨어지는 대신 공중으로 다시 올라가요.

This strange sight happens on very windy days at tall waterfalls in Norway. Strong wind pushes hard against the falling water. The smallest drops are light enough for the wind to catch. Instead of dropping to the ground, they fly back up into the air.

큰 물방울은 너무 무거워서 이렇게 되지 않아요. 아주 작고 가벼운 물보라만 방향을 바꿔요. 바람 부는 날 여기 서 있으면, 폭포 하나가 통째로 마음을 바꾸는 장면을 보게 될지도 몰라요.
