この砂浜はごみでできています。まだ海に瓶を捨てる人に送ってください。北カリフォルニアの海岸で、波が打ち寄せる砂浜が、太陽の下で緑や青や白にきらめきます。遠くから見ると宝石のようです。

This beach is made of trash. Send this to someone who still throws bottles in the ocean. On the coast of Northern California, waves crash onto a beach that sparkles green, blue, and white in the sun. From a distance it looks like jewels.

宝石ではありません。何十年ものあいだ、近くの町はまさにこの場所をごみ捨て場にしていました。瓶も食器も割れたガラスも、そのまま海へ投げ込んだのです。あとは海がやりました。

It is not jewels. For decades, the town nearby used this exact spot as its dump, throwing away bottles, dishes, and broken glass straight into the water. The ocean did the rest.

波が来るたび、年が過ぎるたび、海はとがった角をすべて丸くしていきました。割れたガラスは、小さくて丸い、色とりどりの石になりました。今ここは保護された公園で、一つ拾うだけでも法律違反です。

Wave after wave, year after year, the ocean smoothed every sharp edge until the broken glass turned into small, round, colorful stones. Today it is a protected park, and picking up even one piece is against the law.
