This Beach Is Made of Trash

It is not jewels. For decades, the town nearby used this exact spot as its dump, throwing away bottles, dishes, and broken glass straight into the water. The ocean did the rest.

वे जवाहरात नहीं हैं। दशकों तक पास के क़स्बे ने ठीक इसी जगह को अपना कूड़ाघर बनाया था और बोतलें, बर्तन और टूटा काँच सीधे पानी में फेंके थे। बाक़ी काम समुद्र ने किया।

Wave after wave, year after year, the ocean smoothed every sharp edge until the broken glass turned into small, round, colorful stones. Today it is a protected park, and picking up even one piece is against the law.

लहर दर लहर, साल दर साल, समुद्र ने हर नुकीला किनारा घिस दिया, जब तक टूटा काँच छोटे, गोल, रंगीन पत्थरों में नहीं बदल गया। आज यह एक संरक्षित पार्क है, और वहाँ से एक टुकड़ा उठाना भी क़ानून के ख़िलाफ़ है।
