Pe insula São Miguel, în Azore, există un sat numit Furnas unde pământul însuși e viu de căldură. Aburul se ridică din găurile din sol, iar pământul se simte cald sub picioare. Acest loc se află deasupra unui vulcan, iar oamenii de aici au învățat să facă vulcanul să lucreze pentru ei într-un mod delicios.
