Cina îngropată în zori

Lângă un lac mic, Polly a văzut oale mari lângă gropi adânci. Un bucătar a pus câte o oală în fiecare groapă cu o funie. Polly a privit.

Near a small lake, Polly saw big pots next to deep holes. A cook put a pot into each hole with a rope. Polly watched.

Fiecare oală avea carne și legume înăuntru. Pământul de sub ea este fierbinte de la vulcan. Nu există foc. Doar căldura pământului gătește mâncarea.

Each pot had meat and vegetables inside. The ground under it is hot from the volcano. There is no fire. Only the earth's heat cooks the food.

The pots stay in the ground for six or seven hours. People go for a walk while they wait. Then they come back for dinner.
