Večera zakopaná na svitaní

Pri malom jazere videla Polly veľké hrnce pri hlbokých jamách. Kuchár dal do každej jamy hrniec na lane. Polly sa pozerala.

Near a small lake, Polly saw big pots next to deep holes. A cook put a pot into each hole with a rope. Polly watched.

V každom hrnci bolo mäso a zelenina. Zem pod ním je horúca od sopky. Nie je tam žiadny oheň. Jedlo varí len teplo zeme.

Each pot had meat and vegetables inside. The ground under it is hot from the volcano. There is no fire. Only the earth's heat cooks the food.

Hrnce zostanú v zemi šesť alebo sedem hodín. Ľudia sa medzitým idú prejsť. Potom sa vrátia na večeru.

The pots stay in the ground for six or seven hours. People go for a walk while they wait. Then they come back for dinner.

Keď otvorili prvý hrniec, vyšla para. Voňalo to veľmi dobre. Polly sledovala, ako ho kuchár šťastne odnáša.

Steam came out when the first pot opened. It smelled very good. Polly watched the cook carry it away happily.
