Pada pagi ketiga, kereta berhenti di Yekaterinburg.
Galina sudah pergi di malam hari. Pavel masih tertidur. Dua penumpang baru naik. Seorang tentara muda dan seorang pria tua dengan kotak peralatan memancing.
Yekaterinburg adalah kota terbesar di Ural. Pegunungan Ural membagi Eropa dari Asia. Mereka tidak tinggi, tetapi sangat tua. Mereka berusia 500 juta tahun. Mereka adalah beberapa gunung tertua di Bumi.
Kereta Trans-Siberia melintasi Ural di sini. Ada penanda kecil di dekat rel. Satu sisi bertuliskan EROPA. Sisi lainnya bertuliskan ASIA.
