Le bar de Kirkwall avait cinq tables et un feu. Polly s'est assise près de la chaleur. "Puis-je voir la carte ?" a-t-elle demandé. Il y avait peu de plats sur le carton.

The bar in Kirkwall had five tables and a fire. Polly sat near the heat. "Can I see the menu?" she asked. There were only a few things on the card.

"Pourriez-vous me recommander un bon plat ?" La patronne était un héron. Elle a dit le bannock. Le bere est une orge cultivée ici depuis des centaines d'années. Elle pousse vite, dans un été court.

"Could you recommend a good dish?" The owner was a heron. She said the bannock. Bere is a barley grown here for hundreds of years. It grows fast, in a short summer.

"Do you have vegetarian options?" Polly asked. The heron pointed at the same line. Bannock, butter and soft cheese.

"Pouvons-nous avoir l'addition, s'il vous plaît ?" a dit Polly. Le héron a pris son temps, ce qui est bon signe. Dehors, le vent était presque calme. Polly est montée jusqu'à la cathédrale rouge.

"Can we get the bill, please?" Polly said. The heron took her time, which is a good sign. Outside, the wind was almost calm. Polly walked up to the red cathedral.
