Barul din Kirkwall avea cinci mese și un foc. Polly s-a așezat lângă căldură. „Îmi puteți aduce meniul?”, a întrebat ea. Pe listă erau doar câteva feluri.

The bar in Kirkwall had five tables and a fire. Polly sat near the heat. "Can I see the menu?" she asked. There were only a few things on the card.

„Îmi puteți recomanda un fel bun?” Proprietara era un stârc. A spus turta de bere. Bere este un orz cultivat aici de sute de ani, nu este băutura. Orzul bere crește repede, într-o vară scurtă.

"Could you recommend a good dish?" The owner was a heron. She said the bannock. Bere is a barley grown here for hundreds of years. It grows fast, in a short summer.

"Do you have vegetarian options?" Polly asked. The heron pointed at the same line. Bannock, butter and soft cheese.

„Ne puteți aduce nota, vă rog?”, a spus Polly. Stârcul și-a luat timpul, ceea ce este un semn bun. Afară, vântul era aproape calm. Polly a urcat spre catedrala roșie.

"Can we get the bill, please?" Polly said. The heron took her time, which is a good sign. Outside, the wind was almost calm. Polly walked up to the red cathedral.
