Die Bar in Kirkwall hatte fünf Tische und ein Feuer. Polly setzte sich nahe an die Wärme. "Kann ich die Speisekarte sehen?", fragte sie. Es standen nur wenige Dinge auf der Karte.

"Haben Sie vegetarische Optionen?", fragte Polly. Der Reiher zeigte auf dieselbe Zeile. Bannock, Butter und weicher Käse.
"Können wir bitte die Rechnung haben?", sagte Polly. Der Reiher ließ sich Zeit, und das ist ein gutes Zeichen. Draußen war der Wind fast still. Polly ging hinauf zur roten Kathedrale.
