The Empty Cup

It is Pedro's first day. He gets a desk. He gets a laptop. Everyone goes to a meeting.

Bugün Pedro'nun ilk günü. Bir masa alıyor. Bir dizüstü bilgisayar alıyor. Herkes bir toplantıya gidiyor.

The desk is clean. There is one white cup. He thinks: maybe it is a gift. He is thirsty.

Masa temiz. Üstünde beyaz bir fincan var. Pedro düşünüyor: belki bir hediyedir. Susamış.

Pedro goes to the kitchen. He fills the cup with water. He sits down. A bearded man stands at the door.

Pedro mutfağa gidiyor. Fincanı suyla dolduruyor. Oturuyor. Sakallı bir adam kapıda duruyor.

"This was my desk before," he says. He smiles. "I am Diego. Welcome."

"Bu eskiden benim masamdı," diyor. Gülümsüyor. "Ben Diego. Hoş geldin."

Pedro's face turns red. He gives the cup back. Diego laughs. "Keep it," he says. "But ask about the coffee machine."

Pedro'nun yüzü kızarıyor. Fincanı geri veriyor. Diego gülüyor. "Sende kalsın," diyor. "Ama kahve makinesini sor."

Later, Diego shows him the coffee machine. It takes ten minutes.

Sonra Diego ona kahve makinesini gösteriyor. On dakika sürüyor.
