The Empty Cup

It is Pedro's first day. He gets a desk. He gets a laptop. Everyone goes to a meeting.

आज पेद्रो का पहला दिन है। उसे एक मेज़ मिलती है। उसे एक लैपटॉप मिलता है। सब लोग मीटिंग में जाते हैं।

The desk is clean. There is one white cup. He thinks: maybe it is a gift. He is thirsty.

मेज़ साफ़ है। वहाँ एक सफ़ेद कप है। वह सोचता है: शायद यह तोहफ़ा है। उसे प्यास लगी है।

Pedro goes to the kitchen. He fills the cup with water. He sits down. A bearded man stands at the door.

पेद्रो रसोई में जाता है। वह कप में पानी भरता है। वह बैठ जाता है। दरवाज़े पर दाढ़ी वाला एक आदमी खड़ा है।

"This was my desk before," he says. He smiles. "I am Diego. Welcome."

"यह पहले मेरी मेज़ थी," वह कहता है। वह मुस्कुराता है। "मैं डियेगो हूँ। स्वागत है।"

Pedro's face turns red. He gives the cup back. Diego laughs. "Keep it," he says. "But ask about the coffee machine."

पेद्रो का चेहरा लाल हो जाता है। वह कप वापस देता है। डियेगो हँसता है। "इसे रख लीजिए," वह कहता है। "पर कॉफ़ी मशीन के बारे में पूछिएगा।"

Later, Diego shows him the coffee machine. It takes ten minutes.

बाद में, डियेगो उसे कॉफ़ी मशीन दिखाता है। इसमें दस मिनट लगते हैं।
