El parque junto a mi casa

Vivo en un árbol viejo, junto al parque. Es un parque pequeño y no es famoso, pero lo conozco muy bien porque voy todos los días.

I live in an old tree, next to the park. It is a small park and it is not famous, but I know it very well because I go every day.

Por la mañana, cuando acaba la lluvia, bajo del árbol a buscar comida. Me entretengo un rato mirando a los que pasan por el camino. Siempre hay palomas cerca de los bancos, esperando un poco de pan.

In the morning, when the rain stops, I climb down from the tree to look for food. I spend a while watching the ones who pass along the path. There are always pigeons near the benches, waiting for a bit of bread.

El señor Tejón llega a las diez, siempre a la misma hora. Trae pan para las palomas y ellas lo rodean enseguida. Yo me divierto mucho viendo cómo se pelean por las migas más grandes.

Mr. Badger arrives at ten, always at the same time. He brings bread for the pigeons and they surround him at once. I have a lot of fun watching how they fight over the biggest crumbs.

Los sábados el parque cambia. Llegan las familias y los pequeños juegan al escondite entre los árboles. Se esconden muy mal: se ríen todo el rato, y por eso siempre sé dónde están. Sus padres se entretienen hablando en los bancos y no miran el reloj.

On Saturdays the park changes. The families arrive and the little ones play hide and seek among the trees. They hide very badly: they laugh the whole time, and that is why I always know where they are. Their parents keep themselves busy talking on the benches and do not look at the clock.

Cuando acaba la tarde, todos vuelven a casa y el parque se queda en silencio. Entonces bajo otra vez y camino junto al agua, sin prisa. Me divierto más ahora que por la mañana, porque el parque es solo mío.

When the afternoon ends, everyone goes home and the park falls silent. Then I climb down again and walk beside the water, without hurrying. I enjoy it more now than in the morning, because the park is only mine.

No necesito ir muy lejos. Mi parque está junto a mi casa, y para mí eso es suficiente.

I do not need to go far. My park is next to my house, and for me that is enough.
