Kabut Menutup di Belakangnya

Pada sore terakhirnya, Polly terbang tinggi di atas pesisir. Di bawahnya ada ladang teh, danau kawah, dan hutan yang sunyi. Pulau itu tampak seperti gunung api tua yang perlahan menjadi hijau.

On her last afternoon, Polly flew high above the coast. Below her were the tea fields, the crater lakes, and the quiet forest. The island looked like old volcanoes, still slowly turning green.

Perahu kembali ke pelabuhan. Lampu menyala di sepanjang pantai. Bau asap naik dari arah pantai.

Boats went back to the harbor. Lights came on along the coast. Smoke smell drifted up from the shore.

Kabut datang dari laut. Kabut menutupi kawah, lalu ladang teh, lalu pelabuhan. Polly pernah melihat ini.

Fog came in from the sea. It covered the crater, then the tea fields, then the harbor. Polly had seen this before.

Ia terbang ke arah laut. Di belakangnya, pulau itu terus memasak makan malam di bawah tanah dan menumbuhkan teh. Seekor burung kelabu kecil tetap aman di hutannya.

She flew out over the water. Behind her, the island kept cooking dinner underground and growing tea. A small grey bird stayed safe in its forest.
