Magla se zatvara za njom

Posljednjeg poslijepodneva Polly je letjela visoko iznad obale. Ispod nje bila su čajna polja, jezera u krateru i tiha šuma. Otok je izgledao kao stari vulkani koji polako postaju zeleni.

On her last afternoon, Polly flew high above the coast. Below her were the tea fields, the crater lakes, and the quiet forest. The island looked like old volcanoes, still slowly turning green.

Brodice su se vraćale u luku. Svjetla su se palila uz obalu. S obale se dizao miris dima.

Boats went back to the harbor. Lights came on along the coast. Smoke smell drifted up from the shore.

S mora je došla magla. Prekrila je krater, pa čajna polja, pa luku. Polly je to već vidjela.

Fog came in from the sea. It covered the crater, then the tea fields, then the harbor. Polly had seen this before.

Odletjela je nad more. Iza nje je otok i dalje kuhao večeru pod zemljom i uzgajao čaj. Mala siva ptica ostala je sigurna u svojoj šumi.

She flew out over the water. Behind her, the island kept cooking dinner underground and growing tea. A small grey bird stayed safe in its forest.
