Der Nebel schließt sich hinter ihr

An ihrem letzten Nachmittag flog Polly hoch über die Küste. Unter ihr waren die Teefelder, die Kraterseen und der ruhige Wald. Die Insel sah aus wie alte Vulkane, die langsam grün wurden.

On her last afternoon, Polly flew high above the coast. Below her were the tea fields, the crater lakes, and the quiet forest. The island looked like old volcanoes, still slowly turning green.

Boote kehrten zum Hafen zurück. Lichter gingen entlang der Küste an. Rauchgeruch stieg von der Küste auf.

Boats went back to the harbor. Lights came on along the coast. Smoke smell drifted up from the shore.

Nebel kam vom Meer. Er bedeckte den Krater, dann die Teefelder, dann den Hafen. Polly hatte das schon einmal gesehen.

Fog came in from the sea. It covered the crater, then the tea fields, then the harbor. Polly had seen this before.

Sie flog über das Wasser. Hinter ihr kochte die Insel weiter Abendessen unter der Erde und baute Tee an. Ein kleiner grauer Vogel blieb sicher in seinem Wald.

She flew out over the water. Behind her, the island kept cooking dinner underground and growing tea. A small grey bird stayed safe in its forest.
