Questo volo dura novanta secondi. Tagga l'amico che odia volare. Nell'estremo nord della Scozia ci sono piccole isole verdi in un mare grigio. Due si chiamano Westray e Papa Westray. Tra loro vola un aereo piccolissimo.

This flight lasts ninety seconds. Tag the friend who hates flying. In the far north of Scotland there are small green islands in a grey sea. Two of them are called Westray and Papa Westray. A very small plane flies between them.

L'aereo è minuscolo. Porta meno di dieci persone. Davanti non c'è una parete, così i passeggeri guardano il pilota lavorare. La pista è corta. È erba, ghiaia e una manica a vento, e nel campo accanto stanno le pecore. L'aereo sale, gira un poco e riscende. Tutto il viaggio sta sotto i tre chilometri.

The plane is tiny. It carries fewer than ten people. There is no wall in front, so the passengers watch the pilot work. The runway is short. It is grass and gravel and a windsock, and sheep stand in the field beside it. The plane goes up, turns a little, and comes down again. The whole trip is under three kilometres.

L'orario dice un minuto e mezzo. Quasi sempre è più veloce. Il volo più rapido di sempre è durato cinquantatré secondi, meno di questa storia. Chi vive sulle isole non lo trova speciale. Per loro è solo l'autobus per l'isola accanto. Per tutti gli altri, è il volo più breve del mondo.

The timetable says one and a half minutes. Most days it is faster than that. The fastest flight ever took fifty-three seconds, which is shorter than this story. The people who live on the islands do not think it is special. For them it is just the bus to the next island. For everybody else, it is the shortest flight in the world.
