Il gatto che prende l'autobus

Ogni mattina, quando l'autobus si ferma vicino all'angolo, un gatto piccolo sale. Non aspetta nessuno. Sale i gradini da solo, lento e calmo, come un passeggero che lo fa ogni giorno. L'autista sorride e apre le porte un po' di più. Il gatto cammina nel mezzo e trova il suo posto.

Every morning, when the bus stops near the corner, a small cat steps up. He does not wait for anyone. He climbs the steps by himself, slow and calm, like a passenger who does this every day. The driver smiles and opens the doors a little wider. The cat walks down the middle and finds his spot.

Si siede sempre sullo stesso sedile vicino al finestrino. Si siede dritto e guarda la strada. Macchine, persone e negozi passano veloci. Il gatto li guarda con occhi tranquilli. Alcuni passeggeri ridono piano e fanno foto. Altri dicono solo buongiorno a lui. I passeggeri abituali ora conoscono il suo nome, e lasciano il posto libero.

He always sits on the same window seat. He sits up straight and looks at the street. Cars, people, and shops go by fast. The cat watches them with quiet eyes. Some passengers laugh softly and take photos. Others just say good morning to him. The regulars know his name now, and they leave the seat free.

Quando l'autobus arriva alla sua fermata, il gatto si alza. Aspetta vicino alle porte, paziente e sicuro. Le porte si aprono con un suono dolce. Il gatto scende sul marciapiede e cammina via nella mattina. L'autista chiude le porte e riparte. Domani, allo stesso angolo, il piccolo passeggero aspetterà di nuovo.

When the bus reaches his stop, the cat stands up. He waits by the doors, patient and sure. The doors open with a soft sound. The cat steps down to the sidewalk and walks away into the morning. The driver closes the doors and drives on. Tomorrow, at the same corner, the little passenger will be waiting again.
