The Cat Who Takes the Bus

Every morning, when the bus stops near the corner, a small cat steps up. He does not wait for anyone. He climbs the steps by himself, slow and calm, like a passenger who does this every day. The driver smiles and opens the doors a little wider. The cat walks down the middle and finds his spot.

Chaque matin, quand le bus s'arrête près du coin, un petit chat monte. Il n'attend personne. Il monte les marches tout seul, lentement et calmement, comme un passager qui fait ça tous les jours. Le chauffeur sourit et ouvre les portes un peu plus grand. Le chat marche au milieu et trouve sa place.

He always sits on the same window seat. He sits up straight and looks at the street. Cars, people, and shops go by fast. The cat watches them with quiet eyes. Some passengers laugh softly and take photos. Others just say good morning to him. The regulars know his name now, and they leave the seat free.

Il s'assoit toujours à la même place, près de la fenêtre. Il se tient bien droit et regarde la rue. Les voitures, les gens, et les magasins passent vite. Le chat les regarde avec des yeux tranquilles. Certains passagers rient doucement et prennent des photos. D'autres lui disent juste bonjour. Les habitués connaissent son nom maintenant, et ils laissent la place libre.

When the bus reaches his stop, the cat stands up. He waits by the doors, patient and sure. The doors open with a soft sound. The cat steps down to the sidewalk and walks away into the morning. The driver closes the doors and drives on. Tomorrow, at the same corner, the little passenger will be waiting again.

Quand le bus arrive à son arrêt, le chat se lève. Il attend près des portes, patient et sûr de lui. Les portes s'ouvrent avec un petit bruit doux. Le chat descend sur le trottoir et s'en va dans le matin. Le chauffeur ferme les portes et continue sa route. Demain, au même coin, le petit passager attendra encore.
