Es gibt ein Hotel, in dem du in einem Land einschläfst und in einem anderen aufwachst. Es heißt Nachtzug, und Europa ist voll davon. Du steigst am Abend an einem großen Stadtbahnhof ein, findest dein winziges Abteil mit Klappbett und kleiner Leiter, und irgendwann gegen Mitternacht gleitet der Bahnsteig davon. Fordere einen Freund heraus, das mit dir auszuprobieren, statt zu fliegen.
Stell dir die Szene vor. Deine Schuhe stehen unter dem Bett, dein Ticket steckt in der Tasche neben dem Kissen, und das ganze Zimmer schaukelt sanft wie ein Boot. Durch den Spalt im Vorhang erwischst du Stücke der Nacht, ein beleuchtetes Bauernhaus, einen Bahnhofsnamen, der zu schnell vorbeizieht, die schwarzen Schultern der Berge. Irgendwann zieht eine Grenze unter dir hindurch, und du verschläfst sie einfach.
Am Morgen klopft ein Schaffner mit Kaffee und warmen Brötchen, und du ziehst das Rollo hoch und siehst eine völlig neue Welt. Schnee auf den Gipfeln, Nebel in den Tälern, Kühe, die es eindeutig noch nie eilig hatten. Du bist in einer Hauptstadt eingeschlafen und in einer Postkarte der Alpen aufgewacht. Kein Flughafen, keine Schlange, kein verlorener Koffer. Nur ein Bett mit einem sehr guten Motor.
