Dinner Cooked by a Volcano

In the Azores, there is a village called Furnas. The ground there is hot. Steam comes up from holes in the earth. People use this heat to cook.

A cook fills a big pot. It has meat and vegetables. The cook puts the pot in a hot hole. It cooks for seven hours.

Een kok vult een grote pan. Er zitten vlees en groenten in. De kok zet de pan in een heet gat. Het kookt zeven uur.

After many hours, the food is ready. It is soft and full of flavor. People sit at long tables. Steam rises from their plates.

Na veel uren is het eten klaar. Het is zacht en vol smaak. Mensen zitten aan lange tafels. Stoom stijgt op van hun borden.
