Dinner Cooked by a Volcano

In the Azores, there is a village called Furnas. The ground there is hot. Steam comes up from holes in the earth. People use this heat to cook.

A cook fills a big pot. It has meat and vegetables. The cook puts the pot in a hot hole. It cooks for seven hours.

After many hours, the food is ready. It is soft and full of flavor. People sit at long tables. Steam rises from their plates.

بعد ساعات كثيرة، يصبح الطعام جاهزا. هو طري وغني بالنكهة. يجلس الناس على طاولات طويلة. يتصاعد البخار من صحونهم.
