Vor Sonnenaufgang war der Markt laut. Omicho hat schmale Gänge unter einem Dach. Die Händler legen Fisch in ordentlichen Reihen auf Eis. Der Boden war nass. Alles roch nach kaltem Salz.
Dieser Markt begann siebzehnhunderteinundzwanzig. Die alten Herrscher brachten alle Händler an einen Ort nahe der Burg. Es hat sich wenig geändert. Die Leute nennen ihn die Küche der Stadt.
Die Morgen im Winter sind am lautesten. Die Krabbensaison beginnt im November. Große Krabben liegen in Holzkisten. Jede Krabbe hat einen Anhänger von ihrem Hafen. Die größten kosten viel Geld.
Am späten Vormittag ist es vorbei. Die Kisten sind gestapelt. Jemand wäscht den Boden. Polly saß auf einer leeren Kiste und sah zu.
