风暴下的村庄

“你能告诉我怎么去那里吗？”早饭时波莉问。沿着海岸公路往西走，羊说。村庄就在一片淡色沙滩的海湾后面。

"Can you tell me how to get there?" Polly asked at breakfast. Follow the coast road west, the sheep said. The village sits behind a bay of pale sand.

遗址上有一只蛎鹬。波莉问：“我想了解一下这处古迹的历史。”五千年前有人住在这里，他说。后来沙子把村庄埋了起来。

An oystercatcher was at the site. Polly asked, "I would like to know the history of this particular monument." People lived here five thousand years ago, he said. Then sand covered the village.

风把他的话吹走了一半。“可以请你再说一遍吗？”波莉问。每一间屋子里面都一样。正中有火。两侧有床。墙边有一个石头架子。

The wind took half his words. "Could you please repeat that for me?" Polly asked. Every house is the same inside. A fire in the middle. Beds at each side. A stone shelf on the wall.

“你能告诉我博物馆明天开门吗？”波莉问。她知道自己还会再来。她朝一个房间里看了很久。

"Could you tell me if the museum is open tomorrow?" Polly asked. She knew she would come back. She looked into one room for a long time.
