Tierra nueva

Una mañana, los pájaros contaron una gran noticia. La tierra se había abierto en el sur. Polly voló hacia un brillo naranja. Encontró una grieta larga y brillante en la tierra. De ella salía roca líquida y caliente. El calor era fuerte, así que Polly se quedó lejos. Su cuerpo verde brillaba naranja.

One morning, the birds shared big news. The ground had opened in the south. Polly flew toward an orange glow. She found a long, glowing crack in the earth. Hot liquid rock shot up from it. The heat was strong, so Polly stayed far away. Her green body glowed orange.

The hot rock cooled into black stone. Nothing grows on it at first. Later, soft moss comes. But it grows very slowly. One footstep can hurt it for years. So please never step on the moss.
