火山につながれた村

そのあと、ポリーは村を歩きました。道の割れ目から湯気が出ていました。近くで大きな浴槽がオレンジ色に光っていました。昼ごはんを作った熱と同じ熱です。

Later, Polly walked through the village. Steam came from cracks in the road. A big pool glowed orange nearby. This is the same heat that cooked lunch.

熱い湯が大きな公共の浴槽を満たします。機械がなくても一年じゅう温かいです。水の中の鉄が、湯をオレンジ色にします。

The hot water fills a big public pool. It stays warm all year with no machine. Iron in the water makes it orange.

この熱をお湯に使う家もあります。火はいりません。村ぜんぶが、下の火山で動いています。

Some homes use this heat for hot water too. No fire is needed. The whole village runs on the volcano below it.
