In Barahona gibt es kleine Werkstätten. Eine Säge schneidet den rohen Stein auf. Innen ist er blau, mit weißen Linien darin. Er sieht aus wie das Meer von einem Flugzeug aus.
Der Stein heißt Pektolith. Grauer Pektolith gibt es in vielen Ländern. Aber blauer Pektolith gibt es nur hier. Menschen haben überall sonst danach gesucht. Sie haben ihn nie gefunden.
Der Stein ist sehr alt. Heißes Wasser floss in Löcher im Gestein und füllte sie. Also ist dieser Stein Wasser, das hart geworden ist.
Die Werkstatt macht jedes Stück rund und glänzend. Dunkelblau ist das Beste von allem. Polly schaut auf ein Tablett mit blauen Steinen. Sie sind alle verschieden.
