The Knight and the Deer

On day four the wind was strong. Polly hopped across a big stone square on the clifftop. Gulls landed sideways in the wind.

At the edge of the cliff was a very small chapel. Inside, the walls were covered with blue and white tiles. It was cool and quiet.

The tiles told an old story. A rider hunted a deer in the fog. The deer jumped into the mist. The ground ended there. But the horse stopped at the edge, and the rider was safe.

Los azulejos contaban una historia antigua. Un jinete cazaba un ciervo en la niebla. El ciervo saltó dentro de la niebla. El suelo terminaba ahí. Pero el caballo se detuvo en el borde, y el jinete estuvo a salvo.

Outside, Polly sat on a statue with a deer head. It held a surfboard. Below, the waves were getting bigger.
