Ese número de batería es una suposición. Etiqueta al amigo que entra en pánico al diez por ciento. Tu teléfono muestra un porcentaje de batería, un número limpio y de apariencia exacta, justo ahí en la esquina de la pantalla. Parece un hecho sencillo.
No es una medición directa. No hay una forma sencilla de abrir una batería y leer cuánta energía le queda dentro. En vez de eso, el teléfono comprueba el voltaje y el flujo de electricidad que pasa por la batería, y luego hace pasar esos números por un pequeño programa que calcula el resto, basándose en cómo suelen comportarse baterías similares.
Por eso el número puede saltar de forma extraña, bajando rápido con frío o quedándose atascado en uno por ciento mucho más tiempo del esperado. La batería en sí no está rota. El teléfono solo está adivinando, con toda la precisión que puede, y actualizando su estimación cada pocos segundos.
