Por la tarde, Isabelle y Polly paseaban junto al río Sena. Estaban emocionadas después de conocer al señor Dupont. Él las había invitado a su estudio cerca del río. Quería mostrarles su nueva pintura de París al atardecer. Se suponía que el cuadro era hermoso y mágico.

Cuando entraron al estudio, se sorprendieron. El caballete estaba vacío. La pintura había desaparecido. El señor Dupont parecía muy preocupado. Dijo: "El cuadro estaba aquí esta mañana. Salí a dar un paseo corto. Cuando regresé, ya no estaba". Polly, la curiosa cotorra, quería ayudar a resolver el misterio.
