El Cruce

Al mediodía la manada llegó a un río. Todos se detuvieron. El agua estaba marrón. Allí viven cocodrilos. Algunos son muy grandes. Los animales tenían miedo.

At midday the herd came to a river. They all stopped. The water was brown. Crocodiles live there. Some are very big. The animals were afraid.

Entonces un ñu saltó al agua. Todos los demás lo siguieron. El agua salpicó por todas partes. Polly voló bajo sobre sus lomos. Sus gafas se mojaron.

Then one wildebeest jumped in. All the others followed. Water flew everywhere. Polly flew low over their backs. Her glasses got wet.

No todos los animales lo lograron. El río se llevó a algunos. Polly observó desde un árbol. Así funciona el río. Siempre ha sido de esta manera.

Not all the animals made it. The river took a few. Polly watched from a tree. This is how the river works. It has always been this way.

In the evening it was over. The wet animals ate grass again. The river was calm. Polly looked at the stars.
