Un Río de Animales

Polly se despertó temprano. Escuchó un sonido grave, como un trueno. Eran los ñus. Hablan mientras caminan. Las filas de animales eran muy, muy largas. Esta es la gran migración.

Polly woke up early. She heard a low sound, like thunder. It was the wildebeest. They talk as they walk. The lines of animals were very, very long. This is the great migration.

Polly voló sobre la manada. Se posó en el lomo de un ñu grande. Lo montó como si fuera un barco. El polvo hizo que sus gafas se vieran doradas.

Polly flew over the herd. She landed on the back of a big wildebeest. She rode it like a boat. The dust made her glasses gold.

Los animales comen en orden. Las cebras comen la hierba alta y dura. Los ñus comen la del medio. Las gacelas comen la hierba tierna y nueva del final. Nadie pelea.

The animals eat in order. Zebras eat the tall, hard grass. Wildebeest eat the middle. Gazelles eat the soft new grass at the end. No one fights.

Nubes oscuras aparecieron en el norte. Los ñus pueden oler la lluvia desde muy lejos. La lluvia significa hierba. La manada caminó hacia la tormenta. Polly encontró un árbol y se durmió.

Dark clouds came in the north. Wildebeest can smell rain far away. Rain means grass. The herd walked to the storm. Polly found a tree and slept.
