Am Morgen flog Polly nach ganz oben in den Wald. Am Boden ist alles dunkel und still. Aber hier oben war viel Sonne. Die Blätter glänzten und die Blumen hingen in der Luft. Pollys blaugrüne Flügel blitzten. Dieser obere Teil ist das Kronendach.
Fast alle Tiere des Waldes leben hier oben. Affen liefen über die Äste. Faultiere hingen still und fraßen langsam Blätter. Vögel in vielen Farben flogen von Baum zu Baum. Sie berühren fast nie den Boden.
Es war sehr laut und sehr hell. Papageien und Tukane riefen von den hohen Ästen. Ihre Federn waren rot, golden und blau. Polly flog mit ihnen. Hier waren ihre bunten Farben ganz normal.
Ein riesiger Baum stand hoch über den anderen. Polly flog nach oben und ruhte sich aus. Sie konnte den Wald in alle Richtungen sehen. In der Ferne fiel grauer Regen auf das Grün.
