Die Naht der Welt

Polly kam aus einem grauen Himmel herunter. Sie fand ein neues, fremdes Land. Es gab keine grünen Hügel. Es gab nur schwarzen Stein, grünes Moos und Dampf aus dem Boden. Polly hat einen roten Kopf, einen grünen Körper und eine kleine, runde Brille. Das war Island.

Polly came down from a grey sky. She found a strange new land. There were no green hills. There was only black rock, green moss, and steam from the ground. Polly has a red head, a green body, and small round glasses. This was Iceland.

Island liegt auf einem großen Riss in der Erde. Hier gehen zwei riesige Platten ganz langsam auseinander. Auch heißer Stein steigt von tief unten herauf. Darum hat Island Feuer und Eis.

Iceland sits on a big crack in the earth. Here, two huge plates are slowly pulling apart. Hot rock also rises from deep below. So Iceland has both fire and ice.

Polly flog in ein langes, grünes Tal. Auf jeder Seite stehen hohe Wände aus Stein. Eine Seite ist Nordamerika. Die andere Seite ist Europa. Polly sprang von einer Seite zur anderen. Sie überquerte zwei Kontinente an einem Tag.

Polly flew to a long green valley. Tall rock walls stand on each side. One side is North America. The other side is Europe. Polly hopped from one side to the other. She crossed two continents in one day.

Am Nachmittag wurde der Dampf rosa. Vor langer Zeit kamen die Menschen hier zusammen, um Gesetze zu machen. Polly ruhte sich auf dem weichen Moos aus. Dieses Land ist nie fertig.

In the evening, the steam turned pink. Long ago, people met here to make laws. Polly rested on the soft moss. This land is never finished.
