La costura del mundo

Polly bajó de un cielo gris. Encontró una tierra nueva y extraña. No había colinas verdes. Solo había roca negra, musgo verde y vapor que salía del suelo. Polly tiene la cabeza roja, el cuerpo verde y unas gafas pequeñas y redondas. Esto era Islandia.

Polly came down from a grey sky. She found a strange new land. There were no green hills. There was only black rock, green moss, and steam from the ground. Polly has a red head, a green body, and small round glasses. This was Iceland.

Islandia está sobre una gran grieta en la tierra. Aquí, dos placas enormes se separan muy despacio. También sube roca caliente desde muy abajo. Por eso Islandia tiene fuego y hielo.

Iceland sits on a big crack in the earth. Here, two huge plates are slowly pulling apart. Hot rock also rises from deep below. So Iceland has both fire and ice.

Polly voló a un valle verde y largo. Hay altas paredes de roca a cada lado. Un lado es Norteamérica. El otro lado es Europa. Polly saltó de un lado al otro. Cruzó dos continentes en un día.

Polly flew to a long green valley. Tall rock walls stand on each side. One side is North America. The other side is Europe. Polly hopped from one side to the other. She crossed two continents in one day.

Por la tarde, el vapor se puso rosa. Hace mucho tiempo, la gente se reunía aquí para hacer leyes. Polly descansó sobre el musgo blando. Esta tierra nunca está terminada.

In the evening, the steam turned pink. Long ago, people met here to make laws. Polly rested on the soft moss. This land is never finished.
