Polly saß auf ihrer Schulter. Sie gingen in den Park.
Neapel war zur Mittagszeit geschäftig. Die Leute gingen in Espresso-Bars. Die Straßen rochen nach Knoblauch und Tomaten.
Chiara brachte sie zu einer kleinen Pizzeria. Drinnen war ein großer Holzofen. Das Feuer war sehr heiß.
Neapolitanische Pizza ist etwas Besonderes. Die Stadt hat Regeln dafür, die zweihundert Jahre alt sind. Der Teig besteht aus Mehl, Wasser, Salz und Hefe. Die Tomaten kommen von den Hängen des Vesuvs. Das Basilikum ist frisch. Der Ofen backt die Pizza in neunzig Sekunden.
Der Pizzabäcker schob eine Pizza in den Ofen. Neunzig Sekunden später holte er sie heraus. Der Rand hatte dunkle Flecken. Der Käse war geschmolzen.
Chiara gab Polly ein kleines Stück vom Rand. Es war salzig, verkohlt und sehr leicht. Polly verstand, warum Neapel diese Pizza seit zwei Jahrhunderten schützt.
"Oktopusse sind schlau, weil sie nur ein paar Jahre leben," sagte Chiara. "Sie müssen schnell lernen. Wir können langsam lernen. Pasta wird alles lernen, was sie weiß, in zwei weiteren Jahren."
Sie gingen langsam zurück. Der Nachmittag war warm.
