Balloons at Dawn

On her last morning, Polly woke up in the dark. Big balloons stood on the plain. Fire made them glow like lamps. They rose into the sky. Polly flew with them.

Le dernier matin, Polly s'est réveillée dans le noir. De grands ballons étaient posés dans la plaine. Le feu les faisait briller comme des lampes. Ils sont montés dans le ciel. Polly a volé avec eux.

From high up, Polly saw everything. The rocks, the river, and the animals. The herds were still walking.

De là-haut, Polly voyait tout. Les rochers, la rivière et les animaux. Les troupeaux marchaient encore.

The animals will walk north. Then the rain will come, and they will walk south again. The circle never stops.

Les animaux vont marcher vers le nord. Puis la pluie va venir, et ils vont encore marcher vers le sud. Le cercle ne s'arrête jamais.

The balloon floated. Everyone was quiet. Polly flew east, into the sun. The Serengeti stayed behind her, still moving.

Le ballon flottait. Tout le monde était silencieux. Polly a volé vers l'est, dans le soleil. Le Serengeti restait derrière elle, toujours en mouvement.
