Polly leci nad górami. Wtedy widzi wodę. Wielkie, blade jezioro leży w suchej dolinie. Obok rosną kaktusy.

Polly flies over the mountains. Then she sees water. A big pale lake lies in a dry valley. Cactus grows next to it.

To Lago Enriquillo. To największe jezioro na Karaibach. Leży niżej niż morze. Rzeki wpływają do jeziora, ale nic z niego nie wypływa. Słońce zabiera wodę. Sól zostaje. Więc jezioro jest bardzo słone.

This is Lago Enriquillo. It is the biggest lake in the Caribbean. It is lower than the sea. Rivers run into the lake, but nothing runs out. The sun takes the water away. The salt stays. So the lake is very salty.

Dawno temu ta dolina była częścią morza. W suchych skałach przy wodzie jest stary koral. Są też muszle, daleko od jakiejkolwiek plaży.

Long ago this valley was part of the sea. In the dry rocks near the water there is old coral. There are shells too, far from any beach.

Polly idzie wzdłuż wody. Wtedy coś porusza się w jeziorze. Jest bardzo długie. To nie jest ptak.

Polly walks by the water. Then something moves in the lake. It is very long. It is not a bird.
