骑手们到了

第五天，骑手们到了。卡车开上了路。车上有水上摩托和又长又窄的冲浪板。狗在卡车旁边跑。海鸥在天上叫。

On day five the riders arrived. Trucks came up the road. They carried jet skis and long, narrow surfboards. Dogs ran beside the trucks. Gulls called in the sky.

在老堡垒里，有一个特别的房间。墙上挂着有名的冲浪板。每块板都在这里冲过巨浪。有些坏了，但也挂在那里。

In the old fort there is a special room. Famous surfboards hang on the walls. Every board rode a giant wave here. Some are broken, but they hang there too.

下午，大家都看着大海。海鸟排成一排，坐在墙上。那只老信天翁也在那里。海浪慢慢地、重重地滚来。明天，巨浪要来了。

In the afternoon, everyone looked at the sea. Seabirds sat in a row on the wall. The old albatross was there too. The sea rolled in slow, heavy lines. Tomorrow, the giants.

那天晚上，Polly 待在温暖的灯旁边。黑夜里，海浪轰轰作响。她睡得很少。

That night Polly stayed close to the warm lantern. The waves boomed in the dark. She slept only a little.
