Die behauene Höhle

Polly flog wieder hinunter zum Meer. Am Fuß der Klippe, direkt an der Wasserlinie, öffnete sich eine dunkle Höhle im Fels. Die Menschen nennen sie Cova Tallada, die behauene Höhle.

Polly flew back down towards the sea. At the bottom of the cliff, right at the waterline, a dark cave opened in the rock. People call it the Cova Tallada, the carved cave.

Im Inneren waren die Wände seltsam glatt und gerade. Vor langer Zeit hatten Menschen diesen Stein von Hand herausgeschlagen, Block für Block. Polly konnte noch immer die Spuren erkennen, die ihre alten Werkzeuge im Fels hinterlassen hatten.

Inside, the walls were strangely flat and straight. Long ago, people cut this stone out by hand, block by block. Polly could still see the marks their old tools had left in the rock.

Der Stein um sie herum leuchtete warm und golden. Eine Hälfte der Höhle war festes Gestein, die andere Hälfte klares blaues Meerwasser, das sanft hinein- und hinausströmte.

The stone around her glowed warm and golden. Half of the cave was solid rock, and the other half was clear blue sea that moved gently in and out.

Licht fiel durch die Öffnung der Höhle und tanzte über das Wasser und die Wände. Polly berührte den kühlen Stein mit ihrem Flügel. Sie wollte sich die Farbe dieses goldenen Gesteins für immer merken.

Light came in through the mouth of the cave and danced across the water and the walls. Polly touched the cool stone with her wing. She wanted to remember the colour of this golden rock.
