Polly kam bei Tagesanbruch aus dem Osten. Unter ihr lag eine Welt aus Blättern. Es gab keine Wege, nur Grün, wie ein großes Meer. Polly hat einen roten Kopf, einen grünen Körper und eine kleine, runde Brille. Das war der Amazonas, der größte Regenwald der Erde.
Ein Regenwald hat Schichten. Die oberste Schicht ist das grüne Dach. Fast der ganze Wald lebt hier. Die Sonne kommt zuerst hierher. Hier wachsen Blumen und Früchte. Fast kein Tier berührt den Boden.
Ein großer brauner Fluss lief durch das Grün. Er war sehr breit. Der Amazonas trägt mehr Wasser als jeder andere Fluss der Erde. Das Wasser war langsam und voller Schlamm.
Am Abend machte der Wald Nebel. Der Nebel wurde zu Wolken. Der Wald macht seinen eigenen Regen. Polly saß auf einem hohen Ast und sah den Regen über das Grün ziehen.
