The Carved Cave

Polly flew down to the sea. A dark cave opened in the bottom of the cliff. People call it the Cova Tallada, the carved cave.

Polly bajó volando hasta el mar. Una cueva oscura se abría en la base del acantilado. La gente la llama la Cova Tallada, la cueva tallada.

Inside, the walls were flat and straight. Long ago, people cut this stone by hand. Polly could still see the marks of their old tools.

Dentro, las paredes eran planas y rectas. Hace mucho tiempo, la gente cortó esta piedra a mano. Polly todavía podía ver las marcas de sus viejas herramientas.

The stone glowed warm and golden. Half of the cave was rock, and half was clear blue sea.

La piedra brillaba cálida y dorada. La mitad de la cueva era roca, y la otra mitad era mar azul y claro.

Light came through the mouth of the cave and danced on the water. Polly touched the cool wall. She wanted to remember the colour of this golden stone.
