Den huggna grottan

Polly flög ner till havet. En mörk grotta öppnade sig vid foten av klippan. Folk kallar den Cova Tallada, den huggna grottan.

Polly flew down to the sea. A dark cave opened in the bottom of the cliff. People call it the Cova Tallada, the carved cave.

Inne var väggarna platta och raka. För länge sedan högg människor den här stenen för hand. Polly kunde fortfarande se märken efter deras gamla verktyg.

Inside, the walls were flat and straight. Long ago, people cut this stone by hand. Polly could still see the marks of their old tools.

Stenen lyste varm och gyllene. Halva grottan var sten, och halva var klart blått hav.

The stone glowed warm and golden. Half of the cave was rock, and half was clear blue sea.

Ljus kom in genom grottans öppning och dansade på vattnet. Polly rörde vid den svala väggen. Hon ville minnas färgen på den här gyllene stenen.

Light came through the mouth of the cave and danced on the water. Polly touched the cool wall. She wanted to remember the colour of this golden stone.
