The Carved Cave

Polly flew down to the sea. A dark cave opened in the bottom of the cliff. People call it the Cova Tallada, the carved cave.

Polly flog hinunter zum Meer. Eine dunkle Höhle öffnete sich am Fuß der Klippe. Die Leute nennen sie die Cova Tallada, die gemeißelte Höhle.

Inside, the walls were flat and straight. Long ago, people cut this stone by hand. Polly could still see the marks of their old tools.

Drinnen waren die Wände flach und gerade. Vor langer Zeit schnitten die Menschen diesen Stein mit der Hand. Polly konnte noch die Spuren ihrer alten Werkzeuge sehen.

The stone glowed warm and golden. Half of the cave was rock, and half was clear blue sea.

Der Stein glühte warm und golden. Die Hälfte der Höhle war Fels, und die Hälfte war klares blaues Meer.

Light came through the mouth of the cave and danced on the water. Polly touched the cool wall. She wanted to remember the colour of this golden stone.

Licht kam durch den Eingang der Höhle und tanzte auf dem Wasser. Polly berührte die kühle Wand. Sie wollte sich an die Farbe dieses goldenen Steins erinnern.
