Más abajo hay alguien más en la escalera. Una zorra con casco amarillo sube desde el fondo con un metro plegable y un cuaderno. Se para en cada escalón, mide su altura y anota el número. Polly se aparta y la deja pasar. Tarda muchísimo rato.
La zorra no está haciendo una tontería. Estos escalones los tallaron a mano, y no hay dos iguales. Algunos son tan altos como un libro grueso. Otros son muy bajos. El corte en la roca es estrecho en algunos puntos y ancho en otros. Las personas que lo hicieron siguieron la forma de la roca.
