El Camino Estrecho

Por la mañana, Polly entró saltando en el cañón. El aire era fresco y azul por la sombra. Fuera, el desierto ya estaba caliente.

In the morning, Polly hopped into the canyon. The air was cool and blue with shadow. Outside, the desert was already hot.

La gente llama a este cañón el Siq. En algunos lugares mide solo tres metros de ancho. Cuando Polly abría las alas, casi podía tocar las dos paredes.

People call this canyon the Siq. In some places it is only three metres wide. When Polly stretched her wings, she could almost touch both walls.

Miró hacia arriba. Muy alto, el cielo era solo una cinta azul y fina entre las paredes rojas y oscuras.

She looked up. Far above, the sky was only a thin blue ribbon between the dark red walls.

Entonces vio algo extraño. Un pequeño canal estaba tallado en la pared de roca, y corría por el cañón como una cinta de piedra. Hace mucho tiempo llevaba agua. Polly decidió seguirlo.

Then she saw something strange. A small channel was carved into the rock wall, running along the canyon like a stone ribbon. Long ago it carried water. Polly decided to follow it.
